Negative Energy in Classroom

I am a college math professor and this semester in one of my classes, I feel a heavy environment around me. I feel drained, my head hurts, and my neck is tense at the end of the class. I know that I am more sensitive to bad energies than the average person and I do not know how to stop it. I am suspicious about one student but I am not 100% sure about it. This is affecting not only my professional life but also my family life. My sign is Pisces. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

P.

Dear P.:

What you are experiencing could be the result of high EMF exposure, which can cause headaches, tension, anxiety, weakness, and a general feeling of malaise along with all sorts of other symptoms. You wrote that you only have this problem in one of your classes, and I am wondering if you only teach in that particular classroom for this one class. If that’s the case, I would focus on environmental factors (like high EMFs) before looking for psychic influences. Of course, it’s possible that the problem is both psychic and location specific, as may be the case with a “haunting.” If you teach in that classroom frequently and only have problems with one particular group of students, then it makes sense to look to the people involved as potential sources of your discomfort.

First let’s assume that you only have problems when you teach in that particular location. If this is the case, as I mentioned, it’s likely that you are dealing with a high level of electromagnetic radiation. Some individuals seem to be particularly sensitive to electrical fields. Some are hyper-aware of these fields without being adversely affected by them, while others suffer discomfort from exposure whether they are consciously aware of the energy or not. Many people who are consciously aware of electrical fields are also psychically sensitive. I know many psychics who can feel and/or hear the buzz of flourescent lighting even when it’s on another floor of the building they are in. I can sense if the television is on and muted from all the way across the house. If this sounds like you, then you are definitely sensitive to electrical fields. (If you have ever left the city for the country and been amazed at how much better you felt, you are probably electrically sensitive.)

If your symptoms disappear when you leave the location of the classroom, it makes sense that something there is bothering you. I recommend you visit the classroom when there are no students around to see if you are affected then. If you are, then it must be something related to that particular environment – and not a particular student – that is causing you distress.

The answer could be something very simple and mundane. For example, if the classroom you are teaching in has flourescent lighting, that is definitely a potential cause of your discomfort, for many people report getting headaches and other symptoms when exposed to flourescent lights. If you’re sensitive to electrical fields, you will definitely be sensitive to flourescent lighting. To determine if this is the problem, try sitting quietly in the classroom for 15 minutes with the lights off. If you don’t have a negative reaction, try the same with the lights on and see what happens. If you start to become uncomfortable, the remedy may be as simple as replacing the lighting.

If you begin to have problems the minute you enter the unlit room or building, then you will want to measure the EMF fields of that location, for there are all sorts of things that can cause high EMFs aside from flourescent lighting such as nearby power lines, computers, wireless towers – the list goes on and on. I don’t have room to go into how you can test that location for high EMF fields, but that information is readily available on the internet. If you discover that this classroom is plagued by high EMFs, then you will either have to find a way to remedy that situation or ask to have your classroom moved to a different location.

Please note that discovering high EMFs does not negate the possibility that there is also some form of psychic attack going on. There is a strong correlation between high EMFs and paranormal phenomena; what’s unclear is which comes first. I believe that we create the high EMFs with our electrical appliances and that entities in the lower astral (like earthbound spirits) use that energy to try to affect this dimension.

I have noticed a dramatic increase in paranormal phenomena over the past couple of decades, and I believe that this is why. As we are constantly electrically charging the psychic atmosphere as never before in history, we have no idea how this will affect us all physically OR metaphysically. I think it’s entirely possible that it is causing a thinning of the veil between this world and the dimensions closest to us in vibration, and that this is enabling all sorts of unusual phenomena.

It also makes sense that this electrically charged atmosphere can lead to stronger psychic phenomena, so that even a student daydreaming about bashing you in the head because he’s bored or is having a hard time understanding the lesson could affect you if you’re highly sensitive. (We are constantly interacting on an auric level; the more energy is channeled into those interactions, the stronger the effect they tend to have.)

If all of the above experiments fail to yield clear results, I suggest you call the student in question to meet with you in your office. If you are immediately affected as you are in the classroom, then you have your culprit. It’s important to keep in mind that this student may not wish you ill. For example, it could be that you have shared other lives with this particular student, and that the presence of that student brings uncomfortable energies up for you. The relationship between teacher and student is as likely to involve past life connections as any other, and feeling ill is a very common reaction to encounters with uncomfortable past life material.

For example, when I was in university, I watched a film about a pilgrimage to a sacred temple in India, and while watching the film, I was suddenly overcome with feelings of extreme anxiety to the point of panic. I broke out in a cold sweat and thought I was going to throw up. I fled the auditorium through the closest door, which was an exit door. Much to my surprise, as soon as I was outside, I felt perfectly fine. I later recalled a past life in which I had been trampled to death during a pilgrimage to a similar temple.

Regardless of whether or not this student is consciously sending you negative energy, the remedy is the same: you will want to bless the student and the whole situation, and bathe it with divine love. This will shield you and make you invulnerable to psychic attack, for one who is connected to the stream of pure positive energy is more powerful than a thousand who are not. If every time you walk into a classroom to teach, you bring the brightest love you can summon in your heart with you, you will be more metaphysically powerful than any energy even the most disgruntled, bored, depressed or frustrated student can dish out.

When You’re the Source of Your Home’s Negative Energy

Dear Soul Arcanum:

I recently read your response to the woman who was concerned about negative energy in a house she was buying. Your advice to her makes a lot of sense. I have an important question: What if I am the one responsible for the negative energy in my own home? I’ve had a lot of things pulled out from under me over the past few years and I’m in the process of rebuilding my life. I’ve focused on the losses too much and I’ve become negative. My boyfriend of six years has been very mean to me at times. He does not live here but we have had terrible fights in my home. He has kicked holes in walls and broken items that belong to me, etc. At one point, he participated in a program and things were better, but from time to time, he has bad spells and there is a lot of negativity. Because of him, I’ve allowed myself to gradually slip from a confident, energetic, positive person into someone quite different. I get depressed and have to work my way out of it. I stopped putting up with his bad behavior: When he can’t treat me well, I refuse to spend time with him. I’m not sure where our relationship will lead, but in the mean time, I’ve been trying to get back to the person I used to be. It is very difficult. I have sometimes wondered if all of those terrible, traumatic fights have hung themselves on these walls. Does that make sense? I don’t feel happy in my house. Even though my boyfriend’s behavior has been the cause of all the bad times, I feel responsible because I allowed it to happen in my home. I even feel guilty sometimes. This is why I believe I am the cause. I would love to hear from you.

Gail

Dear Gail:

It is true that the events that happen in a place contribute to the psychic atmosphere there. The more emotionally intense an incident, the stronger the impression it leaves. This is sort of like dealing with a physical mess: if someone comes in and tracks dust on the floor, it will make your house a bit dirty until it’s cleaned up, but if someone comes in and splashes red and black paint all over the walls, that mess is going to leave a much more ugly, long lasting stain.

While there are deeper issues at work here, it won’t hurt to psychically cleanse your home of negativity and fill it with positive energy. This is similar to taking a shower in order to clear away the grime of the past and refresh yourself. Many intuitive counselors and healers cleanse the psychic atmospheres of their homes and work spaces as often as they clean them on a physical level. Anger, depression and emotional upset attract lower astral entities much like letting garbage sit around attracts roaches; to get rid of pests and all the problems they can cause, we have to regularly take the garbage out both physically and spiritually.

That being said, you are wise to ponder your energy’s ongoing impact on your home’s atmosphere, for it is the people who spend the most time in a place that tend to determine its overall vibration. However, when someone’s energy is very strong, they will have a greater influence on the places and people around them than someone whose lifeforce is weaker. Thus one angry or depressed teenager with surging hormones can disrupt a whole household, and conversely, a gifted energy healer can draw others up into resonance with her own vibrant well-being.

During your boyfriend’s rages, he is channeling very intense energy. It’s obvious that over the past six years, he has had more influence over you than he deserves. I can see that you are in the process of taking your power back, and this is just what needs to happen if you are to have your desire for greater peace and happiness prevail despite his anger issues.

It’s also important to realize that the more one works on a conscious level to psychically influence other people or places, the more powerful the results tend to be. This is why having someone cleanse and bless a home can lead to instant transformation, and also why places where Satanic rituals have been practiced tend to feel very dark and creepy. This means that you can create a positive psychic atmosphere in your home by making your own energy more positive, especially if you set a conscious intention to create a peaceful, uplifting sanctuary. Whether you approach this on a conscious level or not, as YOU change, the atmosphere in your home will naturally change with you. The more you take constructive action to feel better about yourself and your life, the better your home’s atmosphere will feel.

The world around us is a reflection of the world inside of us. The more happy and peaceful you are on the inside, the more happy and peaceful your outer circumstances will tend to grow, and the more you will tend to attract people who mirror your loving, positive vibes. I therefore think you’d be wise to focus first and foremost on the source of your personal reality – your inner landscape. With this in mind, I encourage you to keep doing all you can to empower yourself, heal and release the past, and cultivate how you want to feel and who you want to be.

A very wise spiritual teacher I studied with for years frequently urged her students to “Comfort the afflicted, and afflict the comforted.” There are lots of ways to interpret this sage advice, but I’ll put it this way: some people always blame others for their problems instead of taking an honest look at themselves, while others go to the other extreme and always blame themselves even for things that are not their fault. I feel you fall in this latter category!

The main underlying theme that jumps out at me from your question is the truth that you are on a journey to a better relationship to YOURSELF. This troubled situation you have with your boyfriend is just a channel through which you are working on learning to love and appreciate yourself more deeply. That you would blame yourself for his behavior is one clear sign that what you need most of all is to feel you deserve peace, love and happiness.

Though most of us have been raised to believe that we get what we deserve in life, the truth is that we get what we THINK we deserve. When you believe you deserve better down deep in your soul, everything in your life will grow brighter. You will either attract a better match or your boyfriend will become the man you need him to be; your home will begin to glow with the beautiful light of your own inner harmony and self-love; every corner of your world will become more pleasant and beautiful.

I encourage you to stop blaming yourself or anyone else for the way things have gone in the past and the way your world feels now. Instead, examine your journey for what it is trying to teach you. If you learn whatever you are supposed to be learning from this troubled relationship and you heal whatever issues are keeping it alive in your life, you will set yourself free to move on to new and hopefully more pleasant territory.

Dear Soul Arcanum:

My husband and I have found a house we would like to buy. It’s a foreclosure so it’s listed for a great price. The atmosphere, however, is really yucky. I know that new carpet and fresh paint would make it look much better, but I’m worried about its energy. It feels like the people who lived there were NOT very nice, and just walking in leaves me feeling sort of “dirty.” Do you have any advice for creating a positive psychic atmosphere?
– Beth

Dear Beth:

Buildings absorb the energy of the people who live in them and the events that happen there. I believe that everyone can sense energy in the atmosphere of a place. For example, we associate places that are dark, dirty, and decrepit with a creepy feeling, and these are the very conditions that negative astral entities find most attractive.

Physical objects also absorb the energy of the people who own them, wear them or use them. The more something is worn or used, the more energy it absorbs. Some materials are more “porous” than others, and some “hold a charge” better than others. For example, metal holds a charge very well. This is why psychics can hold a piece of jewelry and tell you about the person who owned it. Wedding bands, watches and other items that are worn daily are ideal for psychometry work.

Moving into a house that has absorbed the energy of people who were very different from you in vibration will naturally make you feel uneasy. Since the house is a foreclosure, the former residents were no doubt really stressed when they left. If they fought a lot or suffered a great deal (as with people who die in a space after a long illness), you may actually pick up the emotions they left behind and begin to feel like you’re “not yourself,” especially if you’re not conscious of what is happening.

Your awareness of how this house feels is a blessing. Feeling “dirty” is indeed a reflection that you’ve picked something up from the atmosphere. Just as driving down a dusty road will leave our cars covered with film, when we move through a space where lots of old energy has settled, we’ll stir it up, and if we’re not careful, it will get all over us.

The good news is that whether you do anything or not, if you buy this house and move in, it will immediately start to release its old charge and absorb your vibration. Just cleaning the house physically will go a long way. You mentioned painting and re-carpeting, which are great ideas. Getting rid of the old carpet would release stale energy, and painting would not only freshen things up, it would allow you to mark your territory with your personal color choices.

The more chi you get moving, the faster the house will shift in vibration. Again, comparing old energy to dust, imagine what would happen if you moved in, plopped your stuff down, and didn’t do another thing: you’d be living with all that old dust for a long time. If instead you come in and start cleaning, opening the windows, running fans and washing down walls, you’ll stir up that old energy and clear it out of there.

Because you don’t like the energy of the house now, I recommend you get rid of everything the previous owners left behind. If they left any furniture or other objects, sell, donate or recycle them. If you can afford new window treatments, get rid of those too. Replace anything cosmetic that you don’t like such as paint, wallpaper, etc. This will go a long way in shifting the atmosphere toward your own vibration.

Since the existing climate there is so uncomfortable for you, I recommend you start your clearing work on a psychic level. Physical intangibles such as sounds, smells, smoke, light, thoughts/prayers, etc., have a strong impact on the astral, so these will be your key tools in this endeavor.

First, open all the blinds to let as much light into the house as possible. You might also leave spiritual music playing in the house all the time, whether you’re there or not. Then smudge the house of negative energy with sage. (Light a sage bundle and blow out the flame, and then walk through the house, sweeping the fragrant sage smoke over every wall, door, window, nook and cranny. As you do this, imagine that any astral residue is being burned off, and in your wake, everything is clean and shiny.)

If you’re Catholic and this doesn’t feel right to you, you can do the same thing with holy water. Get some from your priest and sprinkle it as you go, or better yet, have your priest over to bless the house. I’ve also heard that burning orange peels is especially effective for clearing out the energy of former residents.

Plants are also great for creating fresh, positive energy. Just as plants transmute carbon dioxide into oxygen, they can transform negative energy into positive. Anything vital and beautiful will contribute to a positive atmosphere. Continuously running water is another great way to get chi flowing and keep it moving; this is why fountains create such a fresh, soothing vibe.

You can also use crystals to magnify your efforts. If you want to create a peaceful feeling, for example, you might put a big amethyst geode on a windowsill, or if you want to brighten the atmosphere, hang a crystal in the window to refract sunlight. Some people even bury quartz crystals in the corners of their property to create a “force field” designed to keep their good energy in, and anything not in harmony with their energy “out.”

A housewarming is another great idea, but make sure you only invite people who embody the mood you want in your house. Enlist a friend or minister to lead your guests in a prayer to fill your new home with great energy. Here’s a house blessing I wrote just for you. I recommend you print it out and hang it up wherever it feels appropriate – perhaps on the back of your front door. Please note that while the combined energy of your friends and loved ones is powerful, you should also call upon a higher power to bless your house, whether that higher power is Jesus or nature spirits or some other force of love and light.

The blessing:

Mother/Father/God, bless this house and all who live here. Fill this dwelling with an ambience of peace, prosperity, health, happiness, harmony and love. Let this space shine with divine light and beauty and provide a warm, comfortable haven from the world. May only beings that are kind-hearted and well-intentioned enter here. May nature’s spirits feel welcome and live with us as friends. May all who enter here receive what they need, and feel richly blessed with their heart’s desires.

From Christianity and Judaism to Native American traditions, all cultures have practiced some form of ritual designed to protect and bless a dwelling and its inhabitants. At a deep intuitive level, we know that creating a healthy, positive atmosphere will promote mental and emotional well-being, just as creating a clean physical environment will promote physical health and well-being.

So whether we’re moving into a new space or not, when we’ve been feeling irritable, tired, frustrated, etc., clearing the atmosphere can help us shift into a lighter, brighter personal vibration. With this in mind, I recommend that everyone cleanse the atmosphere of their home regularly, or at least whenever they feel the need for a spiritual boost.
